Eco-Tourism Program

About the Program

Irving's Eco-Tourism Program began in 2008 to promote use of the Campión Trails System by offering a variety of classes, workshops, and events that focus on personal growth and environmental responsibility. Listed below are the scheduled events for 2016. Registration is required for all activities. To register, please visit the Think Green... Be Green Events page.

Night Hike on Campion Trails

Explore the nighttime world of the animals of Campion Trails with native species experts and learn more about the sights, smells and sounds of nature at night. Night hikers are invited to challenge their skills in spotting signs of animal life and sharpening other senses. Learn more about the kinds of animals that call Irving home.

Registration is required for all participants. To register a Boy or Girl Scout troop and for questions concerning the night hike, call (972) 742-2296. Location will be confirmed upon registration.

  • Due to the nature of this activity, which explores animals in their habitat at night, Irving's night hikes are limited to children ages 5 and older. Other opportunities will be planned for children younger than 5.
  • Strollers are not allowed.
  • Pets are not allowed.

Great Backyard Bird Count

Join Irving in helping to collect information about bird species during the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). By participating in the GBBC, you become a part of creating a real-time snapshot of where birds are across the continent. Scientists and bird enthusiasts can learn a lot by knowing where birds are located. Bird populations are dynamic as they are constantly in flux. For more information about the national effort, visit the GBBC website.

Registration is required. For more information about Irving's event, please call (972) 721-2501.
