While teens are welcome at all of the city's recreation centers, they have a place to call their own at Lively Pointe Youth Center. Opened in June 2008, Lively Pointe offers a variety of opportunities and recreational outlets for students enrolled in middle and high school (ages 12 to 18).
Teens can participate in sports leagues, join an outdoor fitness class, go online in the computer lab, watch TV or just hang out with friends after school. The facility includes a weight/fitness room on-site, with a mix of cardio and weight machines, as well as a game room with three billiards tables, as well as foosball and table tennis tables.
In addition, Lively Pointe Youth Center also hosts regular Teen Jams, which offers open gym and a fun, party atmosphere on selected Saturday evenings throughout the year. Free pizza and soda are served, while a DJ plays the latest beats.
For students looking to make a difference in the community are invited to join the Irving Youth ACTION Council. This student-led group of teens not only helps staff develop programs at the center, but it also participates in volunteer projects and special events throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Whether you sign up for classes at Lively Pointe or any of the Irving recreation centers, get involved! Your future awaits.
