About Towne is a biweekly half-hour arts series that highlights Irving’s excellent local artists and craftsmen, entertainment venues and arts organizations. It also serves the viewing audience by publicizing upcoming concerts, performances, festivals and events.

We have highlights from the 2018 MLK Observance: Freedom Riders. We preview the new exhibit, “This Light of Ours: Activist Photographers from the Civil Rights Movement” at the Irving Arts Center. And we look back as Irving singer/songwriter Liz Rose is honored at the Texas Musicians Museum. Plus, we have details for Irving’s premiere teen talent competition, Irving’s Got Talent 2018, we preview Irving ISD’s ICE Awards and Police Chief Jeff Spivey joins us with details on the Police Banquet.

Next time on About Towne we’ll travel to Valley Ranch for Frost Fest 2018. We’ll attend the world premiere of the locally produced independent film, “Content of Character.” And we’ll get warmed up for ZestFest 2018, returning to the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. Plus, we’ll have details for the African-American History Month Program on February 25 and the Imagine You Conference on March 3, plus we’ll learn about a Leadership Irving initiative.
