City of Irving Irving, TX

Animal Adoptions

Irving Animal Services allows anyone looking for a companion animal to adopt from our shelter. Adopters must present a government issued ID and pay the appropriate adoption fee. Our adoption includes a $50 voucher towards sterilization, microchipping, up to date vaccination record and 30 days of complimentary health insurance (with a valid e-mail address). In addition to the adoption fee, Irving residents must purchase a city license.

A list of all current animals in the shelter is available here. The pet's availability is listed after clicking on the animal's profile.

All adoptions are done on a first come first served basis. No holds can be done, no deposits can be made and no animal can be adopted out prior to its available date.

Adopter Responsibilities

Adoption of an animal means responsibility for the care of the animal and meeting of the conditions set forth by the city ordinance and public health laws.

The adopter will be responsible for having their companion animal spayed/neutered and vaccinated for rabies, if not already done prior to adoption. If you fail to have the adopted animal spayed/neutered and vaccinated for rabies within the given date, the City of Irving will file cases in municipal court based on Chapter 6 of the Irving Code of Civil and Criminal Offenses.

The City of Irving does their best to maintain their animals in good health but can not guarantee no underlying problems. A health check is strongly recommended within 72 hours.

For more information concerning our animals, contact the City of Irving Animal Services Department at (972) 721-2256.

Thank you for your love and proper care of animals.
