Pickling began approximately 4,000 years ago using cucumbers native to India. This was used as a way to preserve food for out-of-season use and for long journeys, especially by sea. Even though, as individuals, we no longer are preserving our foods for long journeys by sea, we may be preserving our over-abundant harvest from the garden. Students will learn about the art of pickling, including methods and equipment necessary. This is a hands-on class is seating is limited. Pre-registration is required.
