Irving Bicycle Fest

Saturday, May 10
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lively Pointe Youth Center
909 N. O'Connor Road

Kick off Bike to Work Week by attending Irving's Annual Bicycle Fest. Join in the activities with a group ride, Kids’ Bicycle Safety Rodeo, visit with vendors that specialize in bicycling information and equipment, receive "on-the-spot" bike checks, see unique cycling groups and more.

Also added this year is "Earn-A-Bike." Participants can earn a bicycle at Bike Fest if they repair a bike, with assistance of on-site bicycle experts, that has been donated.

Additional activities include:

  • Kids’ Bike Safety Rodeo where youngsters learn about safe cycling first hand by riding their bicycles around a mock “street” course designed to show young cyclists where and how to apply bicycling rules (a bicycle and helmet are required to participate in this activity)
  • Helmet giveaway for children who qualify. This is sponsored by Texas Medical Association, Richardson Bike Mart, Irving ISD, and Bike Irving.
  • Make a fruit smoothie using “pedal” power.
  • Fun group rides – 13 miles and 30 miles – are also being planned. Contact to register.

Fest-goers will be able to visit with a variety of vendors including the Irving Police Department, a variety of cycling groups, and DART where participants can practice loading a bike on a DART bus.  Several food trucks will be stationed powered by the Solar Shuttle.

Funding for the TMA’s Hard Hats for Little Heads is provided by the Texas Medical Association Foundation thanks to top donors – Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Prudential, and two anonymous foundations – and gifts from physicians and their families.
