Changing Our Energy Habits
Today's energy needs are met with a mix of mostly nonrenewable resources. Coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear power dominate the landscape, with 10 percent coming from hydropower and 6 percent from the sun and wind. For the past two years, Texas has been the top wind producer in the United States, with more than 3,953 wind-generated megawatts installed. Texas also is the first state to achieve the milestone of one gigawatt of wind installations in a single year (2007). (Source: www.dynowatt.com)
