City of Irving Think Green... Be Green

The City of Irving is proud to introduce the Think Green… Be Green Web site, designed to provide an opportunity to discover, learn, and implement suggestions to become stewards of the environment. Irving is committed to becoming a successful, environmentally sustainable community, and addresses this initiative in the city's Strategic Plan. To meet this goal, we are focusing on key environmental issues such as recycling, energy and water conservation and alternative transportation. Finally, you will have the opportunity to implement by attending classes and workshops offered in Irving related to these topics and presented by specialists helping to assist you in your efforts to be a better steward of the planet.

The proper disposal of fryer oil is essential. Once the oil is cool, carefully pour or scrape the oil into a container no larger than 5 gallons and apply a tight-fitting, screw-top lid. Call (972) 721-2232 for pick up. Free plastic funnels are available to residents to pour oil back into containers. There is a limit of one per household. Call (972) 721-2772. Read more

Telephone Directories: Recycle and “Opt Out”
Did you know over 500 million telephone directories are printed every year? That is nearly two books for every person in the country. Irving accepts telephone directories for recycling through curbside collection and at the drop-off recycling centers. Consumers can take a stand and opt out to reduce the impact on the environment.
