Stop by the Irving Animal Care Campus (IACC), 4140 Valley View Lane, and take advantage of the Big Dogs, Big Deals event. All dogs 40 pounds and larger are available for an adoption fee of only $20. Talk with shelter staff to find the right dog that suits your family’s lifestyle, and remember that older dogs make excellent pets, too.

  4. Not All Angels Have Wings Adoption Event

    October 28, 2017, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Adoption Kennels

    Stop by the Irving Animal Care Campus to find your own angel. On Oct. 28, all dogs and cats are available for free adoption. Visit the shelter or view available animals online.

    Adopters must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid form of identification. Adoption fees apply.

    Animals being adopted will be:
    • Up-to-date on vaccinations
    • Spayed or neutered
    • Given a general dewormer and treated for fleas and ticks
    • Microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch
    • Heartworm tested (dogs over 6 months of age)
    • FeLV / FIV tested (cats over 6 months of age)
    • Given 30 days of 24PetWatch pet insurance (with a valid email address)
    • Given a sample bag of Science Diet food

  1. Irving Arts Center Farmers Market

    Beginning Oct. 7, the Irving Arts Farmers Market will feature "The Community Garden." Irving residents are invited to sell their homegrown fruits and vegetables at the farmers market free of charge. Four Seasons Markets will supply a canopy and table space (2 feet by 6 feet) to the first three home gardeners to arrive; more gardeners can take advantage of the offer if space allows.

    The markets are designed to replicate the European-style markets, where individuals can meet local farmers, artisanal food producers and crafts people, and purchase products in a colorful, family-friendly venue. Local foods and music also are planned to provide attendees an opportunity to dine while enjoying the market.

    Irving residents have the opportunity to drop off controlled pharmaceutical substances for proper disposal as part of the National Take Back initiative. There is no cost to participate.

    The program is a partnership between the Irving Police Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other participating law enforcement agencies. Improper disposal of these medications can lead to unintentional use by infants, children and pets.
