  1. Free Cat Adoptions

    June 1, 2017 - June 30, 2017 @ Irving Animal Care Campus

    June is Adopt-a-Cat Month at the Irving Animal Care Campus, 4140 Valley View Lane. Adoption fees for cats 1 year and older are waived during June, and kittens are available for a $50 adoption fee. Vaccinations, spay/neuter, leukemia test and microchip included with all cat adoptions.

    All adoptions must be processed 30 minutes before closing.

  2. If It's Fixed It's Free Adoption Event

    June 17, 2017, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Adoption Kennels

    All spayed or neutered animals are free to adopt. Adopters must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid form of identification.

    Animals being adopted will be:

    • Up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies if the animal is more than four months of age
    • Spayed or neutered
    • Given a general dewormer and treated for fleas and ticks
    • Microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch
    • Heartworm tested (dogs over 6 months of age)
    • FeLV / FIV tested (cats over 6 months of age)
    • Given 30 days of 24PetWatch pet insurance (with a valid email address)
    • Given a sample bag of Science Diet food

    Children, be sure to bring your father out to celebrate him. This will be an excellent bonding opportunity at the Sam Houston Park section of Campion Trail (101 E. Interstate 635). Help your dad build and fly your kite. Please register in advance. Price: $5 per child, includes supplies.

  2. Juneteenth Celebration

    June 17, 2017, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Jackie Townsell Bear Creek Heritage Center

    Join the City of Irving and the West Irving Improvement Association for the 2017 Juneteenth Celebration. This year's event will be held from 5-8 p.m. June 17 at 3925 Jackson St.

    In addition to a free community picnic sponsored by In-N-Out Burger and a live concert, this year’s celebration will pay homage to museums that share information about the origin of the Juneteenth holiday. Visitors can enjoy tours of the Jackie Townsell Bear Creek Heritage Center, as well as outdoor games, a vendor marketplace and children activities. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the performances.

    Event Schedule
    5 to 6 p.m. – Museum tours, children games, line dancing, vendor marketplace and community picnic sponsored by In-N-Out Burger.
    6 to 7 p.m. Main Stage Theatrical Performance “The Magic of Museums” by DVA Productions, Inc.
    7 to 8 p.m. – Main Stage Performance featuring VIBE The Band
