June is Adopt-a-Cat Month at the Irving Animal Care Campus, 4140 Valley View Lane. Adoption fees for cats 1 year and older are waived during June, and kittens are available for a $50 adoption fee. Vaccinations, spay/neuter, leukemia test and microchip included with all cat adoptions.
All adoptions must be processed 30 minutes before closing.

Want to learn skills that will help you save lives? Become a certified lifeguard.
Prerequisite: Minimum age 15. Successful skills test, which includes 300-yard continuous swim; a 10-pound brick retrieval from a 7- to 10-foot depth of water followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick; and treading water for two minutes without using hands. Test must be completed one week before class or must have instructor approval.
Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Life Guard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.

Youth in middle school and high school are invited to come to the Cimarron Aquatics Center and enjoy the pool along with DJ, food, water volleyball and prizes. Registration is required at Cimarron Recreation Center and will be limited to 200 guests. Admission is free with valid IPAR card.

Due to the rain that has occurred throughout the morning, the grounds at Whistlestop Plaza are too wet to accommodate the concert scheduled to take place this evening as a part of the Irving Concert Series. The venue for the show will be moved to the ballroom of the Heritage Senior Center, 200 S. Jefferson Street.
This indoor facility provide seating for up to 300; attendees should not bring lawn chairs or blankets. No pets or alcoholic beverages are permitted in the building. Outside food is permitted, and the Soul Bowl food truck will be on-site with a variety of foods and desserts available for purchase.
The concert will proceed at its scheduled time of 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., featuring the Three Quarters Fast Jazz Band playing New Orleans-style jazz music.
