What is the Census?
- A count of every person living in the United States.
- Mandated by the Constitution to be conducted every 10 years.
The 2010 Census will shape our future - Distribute congressional seats to states.
- Allocate more than $300 billion in federal funding for:
- Education
- Economic Development
- Housing
- Human Services
- Public Safety
- Transportation
- Much more
- Inform local decision makers about the community.

How to be Involved:
- Complete the 2010 survey: Expected release is March 2010.
- Invite a census representative to speak to your group.
- Distribute information about the benefits of the 2010 Census.
2010 Census: Irving Counts Poster Competition:
- Open to all Irving students in Grades K thru 12th.
- Entries accepted at participating schools and Irving Public Libaries from Jan. 18 to Feb. 12, 2009.
- Individual awards and recognition.
- Campus and city-wide competition.
