Irving Counts...Everyone Counts! What is the Census? A count of every person living in the United States. Mandated by the Constitution to be conducted every 10 years. The 2010 Census will shape our future Distribute congressional seats to states. Allocate more than $300 billion in federal funding for: Education Economic Development Housing Human Services Public Safety Transportation Much more Inform local decision makers about the community.

• Complete the 2010 survey:  Expected release is March 2010.
• Invite a census representative to speak to your group.
• Distribute information about the benefits of the 2010 Census.

2010 Census: Irving Counts Poster Competition:

• Open to all Irving students in Grades K thru 12th.
• Entries accepted at participating schools and Irving Public Libaries from Jan. 18 to Feb. 12, 2009.
• Individual awards and recognition.
• Campus and city-wide competition.
• Competition Rules and Entry Form.
