What is the Census?
  • A count of every person living in the United States.
  • Mandated by the Constitution to be conducted every 10 years.

The 2010 Census will shape our future

  • Distribute congressional seats to states.
  • Allocate more than $300 billion in federal funding for:
    • Education
    • Economic Development
    • Housing
    • Human Services
    • Public Safety
    • Transportation
    • Much more
  • Inform local decision makers about the community.


How to be Involved:
  • Complete the 2010 survey:  Expected release is March 2010.
  • Invite a census representative to speak to your group.
  • Distribute information about the benefits of the 2010 Census.

2010 Census: Irving Counts Poster Competition:

  • Open to all Irving students in Grades K thru 12th.
  • Entries accepted at participating schools and Irving Public Libaries from Jan. 18 to Feb. 12, 2009.
  • Individual awards and recognition.
  • Campus and city-wide competition.
  • Competition Rules and Entry Form.
