Aug. 9 and 19 | Backyard Composting Class

Two classes will be held during the month of August to give residents an opportunity to learn about backyard composting. Attend a free, two-hour session from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 9 or from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 19. Classes will be held at the Max G. Greiner Environmental Center on the corner of Conflans and Gilbert roads. Participants will learn about composting from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s “YardWise” booklet, and see firsthand how to build a bin. Basic instruction will include style of bin, do’s and don’ts, proper materials for composting, compost application, and a brief overview of integrated pest management.
