Description: The Bear Creek community was established by free  blacks and freed slaves during the 1850s.  It is one of the oldest African-American communities in Dallas County.  Pictured are the Morton family children in 1925.  The Morton family are long-time residents of Bear Creek. The community, located west of Irving, was annexed by the city in 1969.
