Design-A-Bookmark Contest

March 1 through April 30, 2009
Official Rules

  • All artwork submitted must be original and suitable for public display.
  • Computer-generated artwork will not be accepted.
  • No licensed/copyrighted/trademarked artwork will be accepted.
  • All bookmark artwork must fit in the space provided, approximately 2" by 8".
  • All entries must be submitted on original forms supplied by the library or a City of Irving recreation center.
  • All artwork must be of a nature that is suitable for electronic scanning and/or reproducible on a color copier. Do not use metallic paints, inks, or pencils. Do not use glitter or anything that stands up from the paper’s surface.
  • All entry form information must be legible and current.
  • Each participant must have an Irving Public Library card.
  • Entries should be entered by age. Age categories are: 5 and under, 6–8, 9–11, 12–14, and 15 to adult.
  • You may enter the contest as many times as you wish.
  • Your artwork becomes the property of the Irving Public Library and may be reproduced and published at the will of the library.
  • Original artwork will not be returned to the artist.
  • Entries will be judged by qualified members of the art community, and all decisions will be final.
  • Entries will be judged on theme, originality, and design.
  • Each participant must sign (or if a minor, have signed by a parent/guardian) a release form granting the library permission to use names and artwork in displays and on the library Web site.
  • The contest begins March 1, 2009, and all mailed entries must be postmarked no later than 6 p.m., April 30, 2009.
  • Entries will be accepted at any Irving Public Library location, including the Bookmobile, as well as all City of Irving recreation centers.
  • They must be submitted during regular facility hours no later than 6 p.m., April 30, 2009.
  • City of Irving employees may enter the contest.
  • No monetary prizes will be awarded.
