Olde Towne Redevelopment Planned
Historic downtown Irving will experience a “face-lift” in the near future as developers plan ways to redevelop and revitalize the area. The plans under consideration include an urban village complete with homes, shops, restaurants, offices and parks, centered on the Trinity Railway Express station in Irving’s Heritage District.
The city will work with Lubbock-based McDougal Companies in the funding and development of the project. The project will extend from the north of Pioneer Drive, east to Britain Road, south to Shady Grove Road and west to MacArthur Boulevard.
A development plan is expected to be completed by December with the first phase of construction to begin in 2008. The city plans to make available up to $15 million from the 2006 Bond Program South Irving Economic Development fund for use on the approved public infrastructure improvements.
