Irving voters will elect a mayor and two City Council members in Places 3 and 5 to three-year terms. Early voting runs from April 28-May 6 and Election Day is May 10. If a runoff election is necessary, it will be held June 14.
Three candidates are seeking the mayoral seat. They include (in ballot order) incumbent Herbert A. Gears, Roland Jeter and Rigo Reza. Gears has resided in Irving for 18 years and is a small business owner. Roland Jeter, an attorney, has lived in Irving for more than 48 years. Rigo Reza, a one-year resident of Irving, is a college instructor.
Candidates for Place 3 are incumbent Allan E. Meagher and Nancy Rivera. Meagher, a 45-year Irving resident, holds a management position with UPS Air Operations. Rivera, a resident for more than three years, is an administrative assistant.
Candidates for Place 5 are incumbent Rose Cannaday and Sue Richardson. Cannaday, owner of a mediation firm, has resided in Irving for 11 years. Richardson, a resident for 48 years, is retired.
