Northgate Pump Station to Offer Improved Service to Irving Residents

A new pump station will improve service to Irving residents by maintaining water pressure during the peak summer periods, and providing adequate water to meet demands related to future growth and development.

The city celebrated the opening of the Northgate Pump Station, located at 1100 E. Northgate Drive, with a dedication ceremony in November. Elected officials, city staff and representatives from Archer Western Contractors Ltd. and Alan Plummer Associates Inc. were on hand to dedicate the $8.3 million facility.

"This new facility is the result of ongoing master planning efforts to ensure that the city has adequate water supply and water pressure throughout the system," said Todd Reck, Public Works/Water Utilities assistant director. "It will play a big role in helping to meet future water demands, and will provide additional redundancy in the pumping system to help ensure water pressure is maintained in the event of a major water main break or loss of a pump station."

The Northgate Pump Station will primarily serve the east side of Irving, and is the fourth pump station within the city limits. Irving also operates two pump stations for the raw water system from Lake Chapman.

The Northgate Pump Station, which was financed through water bond funds, took two years to complete. For more information, call Public Works/Water Utilities at (972) 721-2281.
