The City of Irving has begun construction on the Accessible Playground and Miracle League Field to provide a fun play atmosphere for both special needs and able-bodied children.
The playground and Miracle League Field will be located at Cottonwood Creek Park on Story Road. Designed with a tree house theme, the playground will include access ramps and wider play decks to accommodate mobility impaired children. The Miracle League Field will provide children with special needs with a place to play baseball and other games. Additional design features will provide:
- A configuration that promotes child development.
- Accessibility to children at all levels of ability.
- Areas that invoke the senses.
- Barrier-free design to allow children to access all playground areas.
The Miracle League Field also will be fully accessible, which will allow disabled children to participate in baseball games with the aid of a partner. The facility is set to open this fall. For more information, call (972) 721-2719.
