Officials Celebrate the DFW Orange Line with a Rail Stacking Event

Plans are on track to have the first segment of the DFW Orange Line, which will run from Dallas to the Las Colinas Urban Center, completed by December 2011. To celebrate the beginning of Orange Line construction, the City of Irving hosted a special Rail Stacking Event on April 13. Notables in attendance included Irving Mayor Herbert A. Gears and U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions, who served as the event’s keynote speaker.

Anticipation is not all that is building—more than $4 billion of new commercial, office and housing developments will be positioned along the rail line, which will travel through areas such as the Texas Stadium redevelopment.

The final segment of the Orange Line, which will connect to DFW International Airport, is scheduled for completion by December 2013. By helping to alleviate growing traffic congestion and decrease air pollution, the Orange Line will greatly improve the quality of life for many North Texans.
