City of Irving Gathering Public Input for Heritage Crossing

More than 100 residents attended a Jan. 8 meeting introducing Gateway Planning Group, the company recently approved by the Irving City Council to assist in the redevelopment of Heritage Crossing. Gateway Planning Group provides economic development and design services that incorporate a downtown area's character and history.

Company president Scott Polikov showed examples of how his company has transformed the downtown areas of McKinney, Duncanville and Roanoke in his presentation. He also outlined potential plans for the future of Heritage Crossing, an almost 48-acre area bound by West Pioneer Drive, Britain Road, Shady Grove Road and MacArthur Boulevard.

"Heritage Crossing offers as much potential for a vibrant urban neighborhood as any location you've seen in the metroplex," Polikov said. "We hope to attract quality developers both inside and outside the city who are embraced by the neighborhoods."

A come-and-go workshop for Heritage Crossing residents and stakeholders will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at City Hall, 825 W. Irving Blvd. There will be experts available to provide more information and answer questions. Plans are scheduled to be presented to the public on Feb. 28 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Gateway Planning Group expects to complete their work in the next 60 days. For more information, call (972) 721-2251 or visit the Heritage Crossing Redevelopment Project page.
