Teens To Compete in Annual Talent Showcase on Feb. 15

The community is invited to cheer on local dancers, soloists, bands, musicians and other entertainers who will participate in the City of Irving’s annual Friday Night Live teen talent competition set for 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Irving Arts Center, 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd.

According to Youth Programs Specialist Christine Boltwood, there will be no shortage of talent at this year's teen talent completion. Some 46 acts auditioned, and 21 made the cut. Each act will come prepared to thrill audience members and impress judges with their various displays of talent.

"This is the 13th year of Irving’s Friday Night Live competition — this has become one of our largest events and it's always great for the teens to look out and see a full house of supporters," said Boltwood. “Each year, teens showcase a wide variety of talents. The diversity of acts, styles and performances makes this event enjoyable for all who attend.”

Admission to the event is free, and the competition will be capped with an awards presentation. Winning participants will be judged in the categories of movement, singing performance, band and variety. Audience members will text their vote for the People's Choice award. Friday Night Live is a production of the City of Irving’s Lively Pointe Teen Center and Youth Advisory Council. Early arrival is suggested.
