Free Concert Added to Annual Dragon Boat, Kite, Lantern Festival

Lone Star Attitude: "Deemed the Official Band of Texas by the Texas Department of Tourism, is an organic and thunderous release of Texas rock, country and blues."
May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month — a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. Irving residents can enjoy an opportunity to celebrate Asian culture during the annual DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival at the Las Colinas Urban Center along the shores of Lake Carolyn from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 26. Added to this year’s celebration is a free concert featuring Lone Star Attitude that will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Lake Carolyn’s surrounding skies will be filled with colorful kites, while exciting dragon boat races, cultural performances, a lantern festival, traditional Asian cuisine, arts and crafts, and educational activities will be made available for attendees to enjoy.

Dragon boat racing originated in China more than 2,000 years ago and is a growing sporting phenomenon across the United States. The annual DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival — a premier sporting, cultural and educational event — is hosted by the Marco Polo World Foundation. Admission is free.
