Independence Day Schedule Affords More People with Chance to Attend Events

Given the weekday observance of Independence Day, Irving's 2013 Fourth of July activities spanned during a two-day period to allow the maximum amount of residents and visitors to take part in the annual celebration.

Understanding the fireworks show and concert often extends late into the evening, the decision to host the event July 3 – the day before the holiday – was made in consideration of those who would have to return to work July 5. In addition, attendee feedback received from last year’s Independence Day events indicated many families had to leave the festivities early due to work obligations the next day.

Irving's patriotic Independence Day fireworks, parade and family activities are among the community's most treasured gathering times, and as such, the city’s Communications Department used various vehicles to communicate times, dates and locations of this year's festivities to include the following:

"All About Irving"
"City Briefs"
"City Spectrum"
