Register for Learn to Swim Classes


Four daytime sessions of Learn to Swim classes will be offered during the summer at the North Lake Aquatic Center, two sessions at Lee Park Pool and three at Senter Park Pool. Evening sessions are available at Cimarron Family Aquatic Center. Classes are open to ages 2–17 at North Lake, and ages 4–17 at Lee and Senter park pools. The fee is $50 per session.

Learn to Swim classes use American Red Cross trained instructors. Students will be placed according to skill level. Those unable to pay registration fees can apply for a scholarship and will be placed in a class as space becomes available. Registration at North Lake Pool is available.

Professional swim instructors will be on hand for complimentary skill level evaluations on Saturday, May 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the North Lake Aquatic Center, 5001 N. MacArthur Blvd. For more information, call the Different Strokes Swim School at (972) 264-2774.

Classes will be offered on the following dates at the following pools:

Lee, North Lake and Senter (Daytime)

Session 1: June 4–14
Session 2: June 18–28
Session 3: July 9–19
Session 4: July 23–Aug. 3 (North Lake only)

*Sessions at North Lake will meet at North Lake on the first day, go to Cimarron Aquatics Center July 9, 10 and 11, and return to North Lake the week of July 15.

Evening classes will be offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday on the following dates:

Session 1: June 3–14
Session 2: June 17–28
Session 3: July 8–19
Session 4: July 22–Aug. 2
Session 5: Aug. 5–16

Monday through Thursday Classes
8 to 8:30 a.m. – Combo Class (preschool and levels 1–4)
8:40 to 9:10 a.m. – Combo Class (preschool and levels 1–4)
8:40 to 9:10 a.m. – Tots and Tykes (ages 2–4 with parents in water)
9:20 to 9:50 a.m. – Combo Class (preschool and levels 1–4)
10 to 10:30 a.m. – Preschool (ages 4 and 5; levels 3 and 4)

Monday, Wednesday and Friday Classes
5:30 to 6:10 p.m. – Combo Class (preschool and levels 1–4)
5:30 to 6:10 p.m. – Water Tots and Tykes* (Sessions 3, 4 and 5 only; ages 2–4, with parent in water)
6:20 to 7 p.m. – Combo Class (preschool and levels 1–4)
* Water Tots and Tykes is a parent-child class designed for ages 2–4 years old. Water safety and fun are the primary focus. Children must wear swim diapers if they are not potty trained, and a parent must be in the water with the child. Classes are held at the North Lake Aquatic Center in the mornings and Cimarron Family Aquatic Center in the evenings.

Learn to Swim Registration Guidelines
1. All classes have limited enrollment.
2. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
3. Early registration is available by using the drop box at the North Lake Aquatic Center.
4. Payment of $50 per session, per child is due at the time of registration with exact cash or check. Make checks payable to Different Strokes Swim School.
5. Phone registrations will not be accepted.
6. Only immediate family members can be registered. Two children can be registered on each form.
