Mother’s Day Brunch

4th Annual Poochfest

Heritage Singers
First and third Mondays of the month  7 p.m.

26th Annual Ms. Mature Irving Pageant
BEAUTIES NEEDED!
Heritage Senior Center is looking for contestants for this year’s Ms. Mature Irving Pageant. YOU could be our new queen! The pageant will be held in the gorgeous Carpenter Performance Hall of the Irving Arts Center,  Friday, October 3. Interested ladies must be 60 years or older, and an Irving resident for at least the past year.  Applications are due by July 19. Hula Lessons
Mondays, 7 to 8 p.m. $20 per person per month
The one and only Grace Evangelista brings you this native Polynesian art form. Fun for fellowship and exercise, you’ll have a blast getting fit! Maintaining a minimum of 8 students is necessary to keep the class, tell your friends today! Sign-up the first business day of the month at 10 a.m., see Pat for details. For all you newcomers, a Beginners class has started from 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays, $20 monthly. You can learn the basics of this wonderful folk art from the best, even if you haven’t had any experience! See Pat in the office for details.

Health Screenings

Bi-monthly, the Heritage Park Senior Activity Center hosts a VNA nurse, Vivienne Armstrong, who will test the participants’ anemia, blood pressure and blood sugar levels.  This is offered free of charge.

The Dallas Area Agency on Aging Benefits Counseling Program assist senior citizens with accessing public benefits.   Such benefits may include, but are not limited to:

Long term care insurance
Social Security benefits
Supplemental security income
Medicare
Medicaid
Qualified Medicare beneficiary
Many other benefits

Family Support and Aging Issues Family Roundtable

Thursdays, 5 to 6:30 p.m. Free

One member, or the whole family – discuss aging issues, problem solving and receive group support. Bring your questions and/or problems and we’ll search for answers. Individual Sessions also available Thursdays at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. for $7 an hour.

Fit N’ Fun Water Class

Mondays 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. $20 monthly

New! Beat the blues and get in shape. The pool, music, and fun fitness, jump on in! Beginner to Advanced level welcome.

1 on 1 Fitness

3 sessions of Personal Training - $30

The training sessions are based on the Fitness assessment. Please check at the Heritage desk for appointment times and days.

Night Life

Tuesday Night Dances--Big Band to Country Western – 7 to 9:30 p.m. The Heritage Senior Center hosts a dance that features the playing of live bands. Refreshments are also available. All for only $5 per person. Ages 50 and older are welcome.

The Heritage Swinger Practice - A Performing Senior Dance Group
Thursdays, 6 to 9 p.m.

Heritage Tappers Dance Class:

Bunko - Every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Join us for this fast and fun dice game and try your luck. Refreshments, fun and friends, all for only $2 a week, don't miss it! Sign up the first business day of each month.

Monday Bingo:
Bring a dish and join us for dinner at 6 p.m. Bingo will be played right after on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. Play for great prizes.

·         Artreach: If you are spontaneous and enjoy going to ballets, plays, musicals, dances, orchestra performances, operas and choir recitals, then this is the club for you.  The Senior Activity Center receives complimentary tickets to random events throughout the Metroplex.  The cost to join is only $5.  Call the center for more information.

·         Medicare Assistance & Benefits Counseling: AARP trained Medicare volunteer advisors are available to help you organize your medical bills for filing with Medicare and your insurance, and to advise on other finance and insurance issues.  Call (972) 721-2496 for dates and times.

·         Bingo!!!: Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.

·         Notary Service: See staff member, Pat Davenport;  must call (972) 721-2496 for appointment within a 24 hours notice, no walk-ins,  $5 fee

·         Voice Mail: Now you can call and leave a message after hours and on weekends.

·         Beginning Computer Classes: Check for dates and times.  Registration fee - $30.  Heritage Senior Center membership required.   Must be 50+ year of age.  Classes are limited to 30 people.  For more information call (972) 721-2496.  We recommend that students own or have access to computers.
