Irving Police Dispute Claims of Racial Profiling
Recently the University of California (Berkeley Law) released a "study" alleging the Criminal Alien Program (CAP) lead to Irving Police officers racially profiling Hispanics. Upon reviewing that report, the methodology and their omission of data, it is clear that The Berkeley Study contains significant data errors and inaccurate assumptions. The factual data does not support their allegations.
I.P.D. Receives "Recognized Agency" Status
The Irving Police Department is the
latest agency to join the ranks of
the Texas Police Chief’s Association
“Texas Law Enforcement Recognition
Program”. Being a “Recognized Agency”
means that we meet or exceed all of
the identified Best Practices for
Texas Law Enforcement identified
by the Texas Police Chiefs Association.
This covers all
aspects of law enforcement operations
including use of force, protection
of citizen rights, pursuits, property
and evidence management, and
patrol and investigative operations.
The
Recognition Program ensures that
we have addressed the most critical
of law enforcement issues in both
policy as well as actual operation.
Irving Police Lieutenant Richard Gilmette coordinated our qualification
process.
