The Irving Youth ACTION Council (IYAC) is a group of teens that works with the Youth Council and the Parks and Recreation staff to develop teen-specific programs, activities and events. The group also is actively involved in a variety of community service projects and leadership development initiatives.

IYAC meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month.

Teens interested in becoming a member of the IYAC are encouraged to complete an application form (PDF). New members are chosen throughout the year.

Mission

  • To develop an alliance among the youth, youth-serving agencies, city government, schools and the community.
  • To secure for all children and youth the highest advantage in physical, mental, social and moral development.
  • To advise on how to solve the problems encountered in providing services to the youth of the community.

Objectives

  • Enrich the lives of the youth and children of the community by meeting their needs.
  • Advise the City Council, city administration and the citizens of Irving on programs to help eliminate violence and provide a safe environment for the community’s youth and children.
  • Serve as a central clearinghouse for all the programs offered to youth and children by various organizations and agencies in Irving.
