About the YAAC

If you like to read the newest books, socialize with your friends, and attend parties, or if you want to be in a group where your opinion counts, join the Young Adult Action Council (YAAC) and earn volunteer hours for school by planning upcoming teen programs, brainstorming ideas on how to make the library more teen-friendly, and assisting during select library programs such as Friday Night Library, library haunted house and trunk or treat, and the North Texas Teen Book Festival.

YAAC is open to all teens in grades 9-12 living in Irving or attending an Irving-area school. YAAC volunteers receive special perks such as invitations to special YAAC only events, and YAAC-exclusive library swag.

How to Join

To join, fill out the YAAC application online, print a YAAC Application (PDF) and fill it out, or pick up a paper copy at any library location. In addition to the application, you have to fill out a volunteer waiver form and if you are under the age of 18, your parent or guardian must sign. Return your physical application and waiver to the library of your choice or bring it to the next YAAC meeting. For more information, call (972) 721-2606.
