The Irving Archives collects material relating to the history of the City of Irving, Texas, and its schools, churches, and businesses, as well as the history of its predecessor communities, founding families, and notable residents. The Archives houses material related to the political, municipal, and social history of the city. The collection consists of photographs, scrapbooks, club and business records, municipal records, newspapers and other publications, oral history tapes, personal and family records, church records, and small artifacts.
The Irving Archives was established in 1981 as a part of the city's Records Management Division within the City Secretary's Office. In October 1996, the Archives was moved from the City Secretary's Office to the Irving Public Library. It is located on the first floor of the Central Library at 801 W. Irving Blvd. in Irving, Texas.
