Babies, children, teens and adults can spark their creativity, explore library services and enjoy lots of books between June 1 and July 31 for the 2021 annual Summer Reading Challenge: Tails and Tales.
READSQUARED IS KEY
Go virtual with an online reading log by visiting ReadSquared. The online registration portal will be available soon.
To create a safe and fun Summer Reading Challenge, a few changes were made to the program. Now, more than ever it is important to use our online service ReadSquared to register, track your progress and engage in novel activities, such as book reviews, recommended reads and online games. Those who register online can also skip the paper process required to redeem your prize pack.
Let’s talk about those prizes! Prizes can be picked up at the South Irving Library, Valley Ranch Library or West Irving Library. Participants must claim prizes inside the library. All prizes must be picked up by August 14.
Receive a prize pack for completing an entire reading log with your baby. The prize pack includes a surprise board book, bath toy, and a snack.
For kids, prizes include coloring books, brag tags, inflatable beach balls, finger puppets, bookmarks, animal drawstring bags, free books, and reading certificates. Prizes can be picked up June 7 through August 14. There are also weekly prize drawings and a Grand Prize basket. The Grand Prize winner will be announced August 14.
Teens can earn a variety of prizes by reading, writing, or participating in programs. Participants in the teen summer reading challenge will also earn entries into an End of Summer iPad Mini giveaway with each prize level completed, June 1 through July 31. The drawing will take place on August 14.
Adults can earn free books and tote bags for participating in this year’s reading challenge. Prizes can be picked up starting June 14, while supplies last. For every 5 books read, you win a prize and are entered into a weekly prize drawing. Participants who complete the reading challenge by reading 45 books will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing. The drawing will take place on August 14.
Prize pick-up dates may change depending on library accessibility.
