Irving Public Library's annual Summer Reading Challenge (June 1 - Aug 15) keeps everyone - children, teens and adults - reading during summer months. Prizes can be earned for reading books, magazines or listening to audiobooks.
Pick up a paper reading log when you stop by your local Irving Public Library, or go virtual with an online reading log by visiting ReadSquared.
Children can read, or be read to, for 20 minutes a day for five days at a time. Color in the reading log’s musical note for each day completed, then take the log to any Irving library starting after June 5. Children’s prizes include coupons, activity sheets, candy, two free books and a reading medal for completing the challenge. [Visit the Children's SRC page for rules].
Teens can earn prizes weekly by reading five hours per week. When all five circles are marked on the reading log, take it to the library for redemption. Reading logs and online prize redemption double as entries for an Apple iPad mini giveaway. Limit of one log or online entry every week. [Visit the Teen SRC page].
