New Library Card

How to get a new library card

Enjoy a new library card with a 10-item check out limit for the first 90 days. After 90 days, the card can be upgraded to a 50 item check out limit.

Online Self Registration (Irving Residents only)

Irving residents may get a New card over email by following these steps:

Please allow up to 48 hours for the card registration to be approved and processed, though we will try to approve these as quickly as possible. An email reply will be sent to confirm that the card is registered with the NEW card number. The card will then be mailed to the resident’s registered address. You may instead visit one of our libraries (excluding East Irving Learning Center) once the application is complete if you choose to pick up the card in-person.

New Card Preregistration

All members of the public interested in obtaining a new Irving Public Library card may preregister online for a new library card. The new card is free for Irving residents. Nonresidents will be asked to pay an annual fee of $40 for their card during the preregistration process. To complete the process, visit the help desk at the South Irving Library, West Irving Library or Valley Ranch Library and present an acceptable form of identification (please see list (PDF)).

An added benefit to preregistering is placing up to two physical items on hold, which can be picked up along with the new card. A PACREG preregistration number may not be used to check out any items, including digital items. After preregistering online, you have 30 days to visit an Irving Library location to present acceptable forms of identification (please see list (PDF) and pick up your new card, or to email your information to (see above).

See the Card Type page for information concerning card requirements and privileges.
