Urgent Animals at the Shelter

Animals are designated as "urgent" when they need special care and when they have been at the shelter for an extended period of time. Examples include dogs and cats that are frightened or have other behavioral needs, dogs and cats with medical conditions that require additional care, or an animal not usually seen in the shelter, such as chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs.
