Financial status should not determine a student’s success in the classroom. To help ensure Irving students have every chance at success, the City of Irving, Irving Fire Department, Irving Schools Foundation and several other organizations team up each summer for the annual Supplies for Success Drive, which typically runs from mid June to late July.
For more than a decade, the drive has collected and distributed school supplies to Irving Independent School District (IISD) students from low-income families.
Thousands of students benefit from the event each year, and thanks to partnerships with local companies, when students pick up supplies they also can take advantage of free immunizations and fun activities. In addition to preparing students for the new school year, organizers want to send them into the classroom looking and feeling their best.
This year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 8,000 backpacks filled with school supplies were collected during the 2020 Summer Drive thanks to the continued generosity of the Irving community!
