Kenny Edwards #1239
My name is Kenny Edwards. I have worked for IPD for just about 3 years and am working towards investigations in CID. Before joining IPD and living in Texas, I lived in Southern California, where I was a deputy for 6 years. I certainly made the right choice by coming to the DFW area. Within DFW, the cost of living adjustment has benefited my family’s lifestyle, including my children attending great schools and purchasing a much nicer house. As for my salary here at IPD, my income matches what I made in California if you consider the cost of living adjustment and state taxes being non-existent in Texas.
Irving PD, without a doubt, has a great lateral program that honors law enforcement officers from all around the nation. From the day I started, I was treated with respect and accredited for my time as a law enforcement officer. I learned several new things transitioning from California to Texas as a peace officer, but Irving still honored my time and commitment as a California Peace Officer. Another great aspect of working for Irving is the pride I get from working with the community members. Working for the City of Irving has been a much more positive experience because of the good relationship we have with our community. You get a better sense of appreciation working as a peace officer for a community that has a good connection with its police department.
