I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, and moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in 2008 where I was hired as a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff. I was welcomed to the Irving Police Department in 2018, where I had the opportunity to use my previous experience to advance my career. During my time with the Irving Police Department, I have helped recruit individuals to transfer into the Irving Police Department. I have also been encouraged to participate in several departmental programs, including my role as a Police Training Officer, speaking at community events, and assisting with personnel processes – from recruiting events to sitting in as a panelist for internal transfer interviews. I am currently an investigator within our Criminal Investigations Division. My transfer to the Irving Police Department has not only been professionally beneficial but also financially. The significant pay increase and employee benefits have provided a greater standard of living for my family and me. Another advantage, in addition to the conventional benefits, is that the City of Irving is a Civil Service department. One benefit of being a Civil Service agency is that after two years of service in each rank, sworn personnel are eligible to test for promotion to the next highest rank. Overall, the continued community support in the City of Irving has made this transfer experience rewarding.
