It is important for citizens to play their parts in the emergency preparedness role as well. The Irving Office of Emergency Management encourages everyone to learn about the types of emergencies that can affect this area and how to be prepared.
It is not a matter of if, but when a disaster will come, and it is important to be prepared. By taking steps to gain additional training and by getting involved, citizens in Irving can not only protect themselves and their families during disaster, but also help those in their neighborhoods.
Become a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member, and learn how to help yourself, your family and neighbors in the event of a large-scale emergency or disaster.
The Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) group is composed of all volunteers. They provide communications capability for the City of Irving when requested.
