North Nursery Corridor

Proposed neighborhood boundaries for Nursery Corridor planning projectThe North Nursery Corridor has been selected as a pilot project for the City of Irving's Neighborhood Planning initiative. The initiative is designed to:

  • Improve communications between residents and City Hall.
  • Empower residents and stakeholders to define the future of their community.
  • Ensure that the city's plans, particularly regarding future land use, match the needs and desires of the residents within each of Irving's neighborhoods

Boundaries

The North Nursery Corridor covers the area south of Belew Street, east of Britain Road, north of the Rock Island railroad line and west of Irving Heights Drive. This focus area is home to approximately 9,500 Irving residents and encompasses:

  • Approximately 818 acres
  • 1,634 assorted single family homes and duplexes
  • 2,255 apartment units or townhomes
  • 92 mobile homes.

Project Status

  • Staff has assembled a preliminary draft of the neighborhood planning document compiling the ideas and concerns of the leadership team and survey respondents.
  • Staff is also preparing to conduct a business survey to address the commercial needs of the community.
  • A draft plan with recommended strategies will be available in October for neighborhood leadership team review, discussion and revision.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP MEETINGS

Two meetings to review the proposed neighborhood plan are anticipated for October 2023. These meetings are for anyone interested in helping discuss the needs and future of the North Nursery Corridor neighborhood. All are welcome to attend. A Spanish-speaking staff member will be in attendance at these meetings.

Recent Events

La Michoacana Outreach Event, Feb. 25, 2023  

This outreach event was a tremendous success in terms of the number of people attending and resident surveys collected.

Thanks to committee members and the Irving Hispanic Chamber staff and board members who placed event fliers around the neighborhood and who attended to provide Spanish translation for residents.

Gilbert Elementary All-Pro Dad's Meeting, Feb. 9, 2023. 

More than 125 parents and their children learned about the project and were invited to share their ideas for the future of the neighborhood. Sixteen attendees also asked to join the mailing list for future updates.

Thanks to Irving ISD and the staff at Gilbert Elementary for hosting this event.
