College Card
About College Cards
Students of colleges, universities, trade schools and other higher education institutions in Irving who are 18 years of age or older can obtain a free Irving College library card that will allow them to:
- Borrow eBooks, eMedia and other digital materials through the library’s digital downloads services
- Access research databases and e-learning resources
- Use computers at the library
- Check out study rooms
- Use the library’s Make It Yourself Zones
The College Card does not allow patrons to borrow physical materials from the library. Patrons who would like to be able to take home books, DVDs, and other items can sign up for a free Full Access Card if they live in Irving or sign up for a Nonresident Card for a $40 annual fee if they live outside of Irving.
HOW TO OBTAIN A COLLEGE CARD
Students attending an Irving higher education institution may register for a College card by providing their current student photo ID. Students whose school IDs do not list a birth date will need to provide a government-issued photo ID with birth date listed. Students who do not have a current school ID with their photo on it can instead provide a government-issued photo ID along with proof of current enrollment in an Irving college, university, or trade school. Proof of current enrollment could come from documents such as a course schedule, bill from the bursar’s office, or letter of registration from the registrar’s office."
RENEWING A COLLEGE CARD
College cards are valid for one year from the date they are issued. After one year, the patron must again show proof of identification and current student status in order to renew the card.
