MacArthur Boulevard Reconstruction Project

Launched in January 2023, the MacArthur Boulevard Reconstruction Project runs from Metker Street to Byron Nelson Way.

On Sept. 1, 2022, the Irving City Council approved the $27,967,633 two-year project to improve drainage, water system infrastructure and the quality of streets. The project scope includes:

  • New storm drainage installation from Metker Street to Northgate Drive.
  • New wastewater main installation from Metker Street just north of Hadrian Street.
  • New water main installation from Rochelle Road to Northgate Drive and from Northgate Drive to Cottonwood Valley Drive.

MacArthur Boulevard Reconstruction Phase 1 runs from Northgate Drive to Byron Nelson Way. The project includes new storm drainage installation along the southeast corner of MacArthur Boulevard and Northgate Drive, as well as a new water main from Northgate Drive to Cottonwood Valley Drive. Phase 1 is substantially completed.

MacArthur Boulevard Reconstruction Phase 2 runs from Metker Street to Northgate Drive. This segment includes new storm drainage installation along the southbound lanes of MacArthur from Metker Street to Northgate Drive. Also, wastewater and water facilities will be upgraded. Phase 2 is expected to be completed February 2025, weather permitting.

Road to the Future Work

Additionally, the Traffic and Transportation Department’s Streets Division will be improving MacArthur Boulevard from Byron Nelson Way north to State Highway 114 as part of Year 6 of the Road to the Future Program. This $5.5 million project will lead off by repairing and replacing various concrete panels, sidewalks and intersection pedestrian ramps, as well as adjusting some median noses at critical intersections along the roadway. In addition, crews will be adding a right turn lane into Singley Academy.

Once this work is complete, this section of MacArthur Boulevard will be resurfaced with new asphalt.
