I ran for Dallas Baptist University Cross Country and Track & Field from 2015-2019. The sport of running is not all about how much talent you have but it’s how much work you are willing to put in. While at DBU, I was able to compete with some of the best runners in the country. The sport of running taught me work ethic, discipline, and how to be a teammate. As a police officer these three things are very important. As an Officer, I have learned that I must train in order to be physically and mentally ready for any situation that comes my way. Every day as an Officer, I have to be disciplined in how I am handling each call in order to ensure that I am doing the best I can for the citizens. As an Officer, I have seen the importance of being a teammate with my co-workers. In many situations, we must work as a team to have a positive outcome. There is one more thing that being a post-collegiate runner has helped as a police officer. No one has outrun me in a foot pursuit.
