BYOB Ordinance

In response to public safety and quality of life concerns related to some BYOB businesses, the Irving City Council has adopted a new ordinance regulating BYOB (“bring your own bottle” or “bring your own beverage”). This ordinance took effect July 9, 2023.

This ordinance adds Chapter 18A to the Irving Code of Civil and Criminal Ordinances

The ordinance includes several regulations for BYOB venues:

  • Businesses allowing customers to BYOB for on-premise consumption are required to operate in a manner similar to businesses that are licensed to sell alcohol by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), such as:
  • Businesses that offer BYOB are required to obtain a permit, pay a fee, and provide operator contact information and a floor plan of the venue.

Applying for and obtaining the BYOB permit is easy. Follow the link below to apply online and receive quick approval.
