No Insurance

If you were issued a citation for failure to maintain financial responsibility and you were covered by an insurance policy on the date and time the citation was issued, you may present proof of insurance to the court in order to have your citation dismissed. The proof of insurance must consist of one of the following two documents:

  • A motor vehicle liability insurance card or policy.
  • You may also present a certificate of self-insurance previously issued to the driver or to the vehicle owner that was valid at the time the offense is alleged to have occurred to have your citation dismissed.
