EXECUTIVE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

CODE ENFORCEMENT DIRECTOR

The City of Irving is seeking a forward-thinking leader with strong collaborative and decision-making skills to join its leadership team as Code Enforcement Director. The successful candidate will understand the principles and practices of Code Enforcement and the regulatory processes the department administers and should be skilled in working with business owners, neighborhood groups, residents, employees, and elected officials. The incoming Code Enforcement Director should be capable of resolving sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy and possess good public speaking and presentation skills. Additionally, this position will contribute to the execution of the Strategic Plan initiatives to improve the appearance of corridors, neighborhoods, and the City to support the organizations vision and mission.  

At present, this position reports to the Assistant City Manager and leads the operations of the Property Codes & Vector Control, Multi-Family Licensing and Inspections, and Administration. The ideal candidate must be a proven municipal leader with the ability to successfully manage these divisions, their programs, projects, or activities and will require exceptional leadership and collaborative, as well as effective communication and facilitation skills. 

The Code Enforcement Director position is an excellent opportunity for a strong leader with managerial courage and an ethical forward-thinking vision. The top candidate will have significant experience in local government, city resiliency, and growth, and will meet the following criteria. 

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of related experience, including 5 years of supervisory experience
  • A State of Texas Registered Code Enforcement Office license is required

THE SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS $122,352 - $172,512 DEPENDING UPON QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
