City of Irving Summer Sharks

A summer swim team that focuses on building endurance and learning new swim skills, the Irving Sharks swim team is open to children ages 7 and older who are able to swim 50 yards, demonstrate deep water safety skills and effectively participate in a team-coached environment. 

Classes for Summer Sharks is $75 for the summer; the 2019 session runs June 3 to July 19. The team participates in local swim meets on weekends during the months of June and July.

Practices are held at North Lake Natatorium, Cimarron Family Aquatic Center and Lee Park Pool. Register at North Lake Natatorium or any other practice site.

Winter Sharks

The Winter Sharks is a fun and challenging program that meets twice a week and includes stroke clinics and swimming challenges. Workouts focus on the basics of competitive swimming including starts, turns and finishes, as well as instruction on freestyle, breast stroke, butterfly and backstroke.

This program is designed for swimmers ages 6 and older who can swim 50 yards continuously, tread water for at least 30 seconds and level off to swim a distance. Classes are $60 per session and are held twice a week for eight weeks. Call (469) 446-0201 for more details and specific times.

Additional Competitive Option: Irving Swimmers Program

The Irving Swimmers program offers precompetitive, entry-level and advanced competitive swim coaching. The year-round U.S.A.-registered team teaches proper swim strokes, starts, turns and racing skills. Local competitions are available for bronze level and higher. A masters swim program also is available for adult swimmers looking to compete.
