Thursday, February 4, 2021
Write a poem with the theme "Ordinary to Extraordinary," focusing on how the simple things can make a big difference. The contest starts Jan. 23, and entries must be submitted by Feb. 12.
Prizes will be given for each age category:
Children up to age 10
Teens age 11 to 16
Young adults age 17 to 20
Adults age 21 and above.
Entries will be judged by theme, originality, and how well the poem blends with the subject matter of this year's NEA Big Read selection "A Small Story About the Sky" by poet Alberto Rios.
Please visit www.cityofirving.org/library for more information, including contest rules and guidelines, or stop by an Irving Public Library location for an entry form.
