Traffic Alert: Coppell's Belt Line Reconstruction Project Traffic Switch

Coppell's S. Belt Line Road Reconstruction Project, which runs from Interstate Highway 635 north to Southwestern, will implement a traffic switch on Monday, Nov. 7 and Tuesday, Nov. 8, weather permitting, that can potentially affect Irving motorists in the area.

Traffic will be diverted from the northbound lanes to the recently completed southbound lanes, allowing for one lane of traffic flow in each direction, plus a center lane at intersections for turning traffic. Northbound lanes will be closed. Message boards will posted along S. Belt Line Road alerting drivers of the upcoming switch.

Drivers are advised to use MacArthur Boulevard, Freeport Parkway and Royal Lane to avoid the construction. Irving motorists may see an increase in traffic on these streets, as well as on Belt Line Road near the construction. Everyone is advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes when possible. The project is expected to be complete in summer 2023, weather permitting.
