Autumn Author Visits

Fall author visits: Ally Condie, Brendan Reichs, Julie Kagawa and Marissa Meyer

Ally Condie and Brendan Reichs, Julie Kagawa and Marissa Meyer are stopping by various Irving Library locations to meet with the public and celebrate their latest works.

The Darkdeep, 6 p.m. Oct. 10, South Irving Library, 601 Schulze Drive

New York Times Bestselling authors Ally Condie (Matched trilogy, Atlantia, Summerlost) and Brendan Reichs (Virals series, Project Nemesis) teamed up to write one of this year’s most anticipated Middle Grade works, The Darkdeep. The Darkdeep is a must-read for fans of the television sensation, Stranger Things and the 1980's films Goonies and Stand by Me.

“Everyone in Timbers knows Still Cove is off-limits, with its creepy Beast sightings and equally terrifying legends. But when a bullying incident sends twelve-year-old Nico Holland over a cliff and into Still Cove's icy waters, friends Tyler and Emma--and even Opal Walsh, who usually runs with the popular kids--rush to his rescue . . . and discover a mysterious island hiding in the murky, swirling mists below…” Visit The Darkdeep’s Goodreads page for a full synopsis.

At the Darkdeep event there will be jokes, games, and slime, as well as a discussion of all things books!  Book sales and author signing to follow.  Open to all ages.  For more information, call (972) 721-2606.

Julie Kagawa Shadow of the Fox Book Party, 7 p.m. Oct. 25, Valley Ranch Library, 401 Cimarron Trail

Julie Kagawa, bestselling YA author of the Iron Fey series, the Blood of Eden series and the Talon series celebrates the release of a new saga set in a land of shapeshifters, ninja and samurai, Shadow of the Fox. Fans who have been with Kagawa since the beginning will love how she continues to take unique spins on the supernatural. Her series have previously centered on the worlds of fairies and a dystopian society where vampires reigned over humans. Now she has taken her love of Anime and bridged Japanese history with legend in Shadow of the Fox.

“One thousand years ago, the great Kami Dragon was summoned to grant a single terrible wish - and the land of Iwagoto was plunged into an age of darkness and chaos...” Visit Shadow of the Fox’s Goodreads page for a full synopsis.

During the Shadow of the Fox book party, a short author talk will be followed by a Q&A, refreshments, book sales and author signing. For more information, call (972) 721-4669.
