Pictures + Words = !!!

National Picture Book Month

Before the written word, there were pictures, and these images enhance storytelling the world over. In November, celebrate International Picture Book Month at the Irving Public Library with a book character party, special guests, free books, specially-themed storytimes, and more!

Picture yourself at these festivities --- and while you're at the library, take a look at our extensive collection of books to check out!

Book Character Party
Nov. 10, 2:30 p.m., West Irving Library, 4444 W. Rochelle Road
This party features a special show by Mother Goose, visits from book characters (including classic favorites such as the Cat in the Hat and Winnie the Pooh) plus games, crafts, treats, and other more. All children 10 years old and younger will receive a free paperback picture book while supplies last.

Wednesday Night Live Picture Book Celebration
Nov. 14, 7 p.m., Valley Ranch Library, 401 Cimarron Trail
This month's family night includes Mo Willem’s classic picture book Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus as read by lively storyteller Rochelle Rabouin.

Stop by the International Picture Book Month website to further appreciate the value of the printed picture book --- you'll find a variety of activities, celebrity posts, and more.
