Calling 911 at the first sign of a heart attack could save a life by reducing time to treatment. The Irving Fire Department in partnership with the American Heart Association (Southwest) want to spread the word about the need to call 911 immediately at the first sign of a heart attack.

If you, a family member or a friend experience the following symptoms, you could be having a heart attack:

  • Chest discomfort
  • Discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach
  • Shortness of breath
  • Breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or light-headedness
  • Sudden or unexplained fatigue
